  • Adjusters/examiners/case managers have a lot on their plate. Looking at the previous statistics is evidence of that. Injured claimants might require doctor visits, follow-up care, long-term care, injury related compensation, and various forms of therapy. This can require a lot of coordination, phone calls, and visits to determine that all of the care needed is provided. Another concern is making sure that injured claimants actually attend all of their therapy and appointments to ensure that they are getting the full care they require. Only 30 percent of patients attend all of their physical therapy appointments. Not attending all appointments associated with a plan of care can lead to a longer recovery time, use of medication, and more care services needed.

The first order of business is to determine the extent and severity of the injury. This will help determine the level and length of care needed. The level and length of care needed will determine the services that will be required, which in turn, determine the specific staff and supplies required to provide the care. Once these are determined then mapping out a care plan is easier. The care plan will need to be reviewed regularly to make sure that it is still the best course of action for the injured claimant. As changes to the care plan and the health of the injured claimant arise, then the overall roadmap for the injured claimant will need to be changed. All of the initial groundwork and further changes to the care plan require coordination between many individuals. Insurance companies, physicians, support staff, clinics, rehab centers, medical suppliers, etc. all need to be managed and kept in the loop during the care cycle. Adjusters/examiners/case managers have numerous claimants during any given day, all in various stages and levels of their care plan. This requires that a large amount of information is kept straight. Wouldn’t it be nice if someone was available that could do something to lower the work burden?

One way to reduce the stress and provide support for the Adjusters/examiners/case managers is to have a partner working with them to cover the injured claimants home care needs. This partner can work with the claimant to coordinate care providing medical supplies, home health care services, home modification, transportation, durable medical equipment, infusion, prosthetics, orthotics, etc. Northwood is one such partner. Northwood has years of experience and a credentialed provider network ready to work together to provide quality service at competitive prices.
